Give Access to Google Merchant Center

Merchant Center access should not take three follow-up emails

Google Merchant Center is critical for ecommerce and Shopping work, but it is one of the access requests clients are most likely to misunderstand. They may be in Merchant Center Next, an older account, the wrong Google account, or a duplicate store profile.

Without AgencyAccess

  • Clients add your agency to Google Ads instead of Google Merchant Center
  • They cannot find where People & access lives in Merchant Center Next
  • The wrong Google account or duplicate Merchant Center account gets selected
  • Your team has to explain Standard vs. Admin permissions over email
  • No one knows whether the invite was sent, accepted, or sent to the wrong email

With AgencyAccess

  • Send one branded link that asks for Google Merchant Center access specifically
  • Guide clients through the official Google permission flow without passwords
  • Help clients select the right Merchant Center account before granting access
  • Track whether Merchant Center access is complete, pending, or blocked
  • Collect Google Ads, Analytics, Search Console, Tag Manager, and Merchant Center access in the same onboarding flow

Google Merchant Center access FAQs

Can clients give access to Google Merchant Center without sharing a password?
Yes. Merchant Center supports user-based access, so clients should add users or grant permissions through Google's access system instead of sharing a Google password. AgencyAccess helps keep that flow guided and specific.
What Google Merchant Center role should an agency request?
Most agencies should start with the minimum access needed for the work. Standard access is often enough for feed and product work, while Admin is only needed for user management or account-level setup. If reporting is required, make sure the client grants the relevant reporting permissions.
Is Google Ads access the same as Merchant Center access?
No. Google Ads and Google Merchant Center are separate products with separate access systems. Ecommerce and Shopping work often needs both, but adding an agency to one does not automatically add them to the other.
What happens if a client has multiple Merchant Center accounts?
AgencyAccess helps the client select the correct account during the flow. Your agency should still confirm the active store or account ID when the client has duplicates, old test accounts, or a Merchant Center account created by a previous partner.
Can AgencyAccess collect access to other Google services too?
Yes. AgencyAccess supports Google Merchant Center alongside Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, Google Business Profile, YouTube Studio, and other marketing platforms.
